Review: Bose Quiet Comfort

Reliable, quality noise cancelling headphones gives you solace after a day of children’s temper tantrums.

The Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Noise Cancelling Headphones have been my little slice of peace when I am walking the dog, working out or watching movies on my laptop.

Note: I review things on how they have affected/improved/helped in my experiences as a dad.

These headphones have it all: they feel great, they sound great, the battery last a long time, they drown out your children’s excessive question asking…and the ear cups are easily replaceable once your head sweat corrodes the fabric. I upgraded to the wireless version of these headphones after using the wired ones for several years, and I cannot recommend a better noise cancelling headphone.

Sound Quality
Yeah, Bose is a little bass heavy, but do you really, really care? Are you that much of an audiophile? If you are, then why do you care about a random dad’s opinion on these things? You probably have some niche audio guru reviewer you follow that might say that these headphones sound “boomy” but to my uncultured ears, they sound great. The sound is rich to my ears, and I can totally hear every gasp that Adele makes between each verse of “Easy on Me”.

Noise Cancelling
Are you tired of hearing “Baby Shark” for the thousandth time? Does Patrick Stump’s rendition of the theme song of Spidey and His Amazing Friends make you want to travel back in time and strangle him backstage at a Fallout Boy concert? Do you weep when your child asks to play Cocomelon? This is the answer. Sweet, blissful noise cancelling. I can enjoy a hellish guitar solo from Metallica while my little one watches a cartoon bear do Taekwondo. It’s also a great way to block out airplane noise for you or your children on family trips. This alone may be the difference between a peaceful or nightmarish 5 hour flight.

Bluetooth
It works well. I can leave my phone across my small OC house and still get a clear signal. This honestly really works well if you like to listen to podcasts on the toilet.

Durability
As a parent, everything you buy has to be able to withstand a drop from about the height of a standard child. These have passed that test multiple times. The leather earmuffs are quiet comfortable, but do wear out over time if you excessively sweat into them like I do. I seriously should get my head sweat glands checked out because I seriously soak these things regularly. Luckily, you can buy off brand replacements on Amazon which are easy enough to install.

Verdict
These are my favorite headphones that I own, and I have several high fidelity ones that I use for editing/playing music that are open ear. These just feel great on my big head, like a very soft leathery leprechaun is hugging my ears and singing irish shanties into my ears. If that sounds good to you, then have at it!
